With our theme honouring Expo 86, we are thrilled to invite the then Mayor of Vancouver and later Premier of British Columbia to speak to us. 1986 was a very contentious time for our province and there were struggles everywhere over who we wanted to be. Today we can see how fully Vancouver shifted from a provincial backwater to a beautiful innovative city known and desirable to people around the world. Mike Harcourt made the liveable aspect of our city possible. Regardless of whether you liked his politics or not (New Democrats), he has a unique perspective on the reinvention of Vancouver from that time to today. Reinvention and Legacy are two important themes for all of us in these times and for Mensa itself.
